Thank you for your interest in joining the South Copeland GDF Community Partnership.

The Partnership plans to take forward discussions with the community about whether the electoral divisions of Millom and Millom Without could be the right place to host a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF)

This includes facilitating discussions between the community and the GDF developer and ensuring that the community has the relevant information it needs when considering the possibility of hosting a GDF. Members of the Community Partnership will work to ensure that people in the Search Area have continued opportunities to engage with the GDF developer, be involved in the discussion and have their questions answered.

We are currently seeking new Community Partnership members to join us from the following sectors and groups:

• Agriculture
• Business
• Landscape & Environment
• Tourism
• Seldom heard
• Youth

The Partnership would like to hear from people aged 18 or over with experience in these sectors and knowledge of the Search Area to help create a Community Partnership that is diverse, inclusive and reflective of the local community.

When applying via the Application Form below please demonstrate how you meet the following Selection Criteria:

Selection Criteria 1

Candidates must be able to demonstrate, as a minimum, at least one of the following skills:

• Ability to act as a spokesperson for a local community / interest group / local stakeholder group
• Ability to engage with members of the community on difficult or controversial issues
• Ability to recruit volunteers for community / local stakeholder groups

Selection Criteria 2

Candidates must be able to demonstrate, at least two of the following areas:

• A positive and visible involvement in resolving one or more matters important to the local community of Copeland
• Resident or place of work within the Search Area
• Engagement with stakeholders representing local businesses / local causes

Selection Criteria 3

Candidates must be able to demonstrate some knowledge of at least two of the following subject matters:

• The operation of local government and how decisions are made in the Borough of Copeland
• A broad understanding of the key issues that are relevant to the local community within the Search Area
• The Siting Process for the Geological Disposal Facility
